This is the 100 Good Wishes Quilt I made for Shayla (click on the picture to make it bigger). To welcome and celebrate a new life, there is a tradition in the northern part of China to make a Bai Jia Bei, or 100 Good Wishes Quilt. It is a custom to invite friends and family to contribute a patch of cloth with a wish for the baby. Part of the patch of cloth goes into the quilt for the baby, and the other part of the cloth can go into a creative memory notebook with the wish for the child. The quilt contains the luck, energy, and good wishes from all the families and friends who contributed a piece of fabric. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation. I hand sewed all of this. It took quite a while and I know there are imperfections, but I have never done anything like this and I love it anyway. I asked my mom to add the light pink around the edge. I thought it would be nice to be able to give to Shayla and tell her that her mommy and grandma made this just for her. Sorry the picture is not the greatest...it looks awesome in person!

Wow! It is amazing! You did a great job.
Wow...that looks really GREAT!!! How creative you are. I bought a sewing machine a couple of years ago at Christmas...Guess where it is? Yep...still in the box. I thought I wanted to learn to sew!
